Over twenty years ago, the Board of Covenant World Mission determined that 10% should be budgeted for and included as a part of each project. This 10% covers the direct costs our missionaries encounter in their role as process brokers with local country of service foundations, national churches and ministries.  The actual costs of bringing people together for meetings to put their dreams into project proposals, keeping communication channels open, promoting which may include printing, assembling, mailing and other distribution costs, receiving donations, accounting for and receipting the donations, safely transferring the funds and monitoring their use to see that they are managed well and reporting on their use, all add up to more than 10% of any one project. The excess cost not covered by the 10% is absorbed into our Covenant World Mission budget via country budgets and we then seek funds from elsewhere to offset these costs. In the future, you should anticipate the 10% as an integral part of each project. The fee is applied to each gift received for all approved projects.
